It’s finally December, and along with all of the stress of coming up with Christmas presents for everyone you need to buy for, you also have the stress of perfectly decorating your house as well! While I cannot help you buy your Christmas presents, I can help you decorate your house!

I’ve recently published a pattern for Frankie the Spooky Pumpkin Turtle, which had me curious to see how many turtles I can turn into holiday-themed turtles. While I skipped Thanksgiving this year, I have designed one for Christmas!

Introducing my Santa Turtle! He’s a cute little addition that can be placed among any decorations for the holidays! While his legs and head are normal for a turtle, his shell is Santa’s belt! SANTA TURTLE

• Worsted weight yarn in Green, Black, Red, and Grey

• 4.5mm crochet hook

• Polyfill

• Yarn needle

For Shell

With Red Yarn

Rnd 1MR, sc 6 (6 sts)

Rnd 2: Inc each st (12 sts)

Rnd 3: *Sc, inc* 6 times (18 sts)

Rnd 4: *Inc, sc 2* 6 times (24 sts)

Rnd 5: *Sc 3, inc* 6 times (32 sts)

Rnd 6: *Inc, sc 4* 6 times (40 sts)

Rnds 7-8: Sc 40

Switch to Black. Sl st in same place as last red st

Rnds 9-11: Sc 40

Switch to Red. Sl st in same place as last black st

Rnd 12: Sc 40

Rnd 13: *Sc 4, dec* 6 times (32 sts)

Rnd 14: *Dec, sc 3* 6 times (24 sts)

Begin stuffing shell

Rnds 5-8: Sc 18 (18 sts)

Rnd 9: Sc 2, dec 2, sc 12 (16 sts)

Place safety eyes between Rounds 7 & 8. One eye should be between sts 3 & 4, the other between sts 9 & 10

Rnd 10: *Sc 2, dec* 4 times (12 sts)

Stuff head

Rnd 11: Dec 6 times (6 sts)

Legs (Make 4)

With Green yarn

Rnd 1: MR, sc 4 (4 sts)

Rnd 2: Inc 4 times (8 sts)

Rnds 3-4: Sc 8 (8 sts)

Assembly

• Attach head along Rounds 9 - 11 of the Shell

• On the bottom of the Shell, attach legs on Rounds 15 & 16

• With Grey yarn, on one side, sew along 4 stitches on bottom of black section, then up 3, then back across the top of black section, then down 3. Go back to the middle of the right side of the box and sew one stitch in.

• Weave in all ends
