It’s May! I love the warmer weather (until July, anyway!), the beautiful flowers, and how blue the sky gets in the summer months! The only downside, is that I can’t accessorize with all my fall and winter scarves and shawls! To fix that, last year, I made my first crochet design, the Iris Scarf, in a light fingering yarn, which is perfect for the warmer weather!

Let me introduce you to the Iris Scarf Light.

IRIS SCARF LITE

Skill Level: Advanced Beginner

Supplies:

• Approximately 450 yards of fingering weight yarn— you can find fingering weight yarns from Yarnspirations and Hobbii

• 3.25 mm crochet hook

• Stitch marker (optional)

• Scissors

• Tapestry Needle

Abbreviations:

• Ch—chain

• Sc—single crochet

• Hdc—half double crochet

• Dc—double crochet

• Sk—skip

Special Stitches:

• Iris stitch: 2dc, ch. 1, 2dc in the same stitch
  Also called an open scallop

• V-stitch: dc, ch. 1, dc in the same stitch.

Pattern
Row 1: Ch. 31, hdc first chain from hook, (sc, hdc) to end of chain, ending on sc (30 st)
Row 2: Ch. 1, (hdc, sc) to end of row. (30 st)
Rows 3-10: Rep Row 2
Row 11: Ch. 2, sk2, (iris st in next st, ch. 1, sk. 2) to last st, dc (9 iris st)
Row 12: Ch. 2, v-stitch in ch. sp., sk. first iris, v-stitch in ch. sp. between each iris, dc2 in last stitch (9 v-stitch)
Row 13: Ch. 1, (hdc, sc) in each st. and ch. sp., hdc and sc in turning chain (30 st)
Rows 14-290: Repeat Row 2
Row 291: Ch. 2, sk2, (iris st in next st, ch. 1, sk. 2) to last st, dc (9 iris st)
Row 292: Ch. 2, v-stitch in ch. sp., sk. first iris, v-stitch in ch. sp. between each iris, dc2 in last stitch (9 v-stitch)
Row 293: Ch. 1, (hdc, sc) in each st. and ch. sp., hdc and sc in turning chain (30 st)
294-302: Rep Row 2
Finish off and block to desired dimensions
