Sully the Sulcata Tortoise Crochet Guide

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I’ve begun creating more and more amigurumi patterns, even though I did not start out learning to crochet with amigurumi. I began with accessories, like hats, shawls and scarves. While I have made several of those wonderful patterns out there, and even designed a few dozen myself, I have grown more confident in my ability to create amigurumi.

The latest in my journey of designing amigurumi is this adorable little turtle! It’s modeled somewhat after my boyfriend’s 2-year-old Sulcata Tortoise, but also just inspired by some of the other adorable turtle patterns out there! It’s a quick and simple pattern, and the finished product is so cute!

Rnd 3: *Inc, sc* 3 times, sc 6 (15 sts)

Rnd 4: Sc 15 (15 sts)

Rnd 6: Sc 10 (10 sts)

Stuff the head

Rnd 7: Dec 5 times (5 sts)

Cut yarn, leave a long tail for sewing. Do not close the hole. Sew onto the front of the turtle, right where the colors change

For the Shell:

With the contrast color, sew lines around the top to form a pentagon. Then, sew a line down the areas between the puff stitches. Finally, sew a line around the border between where the two colors meet.
