No-Sew Octopus Amigurumi

Confession time: Amigurumi are not my favorite thing to crochet. I get frustrated with the elements of the toy not coming out exactly like the pattern shows, and so I quit and forget about it (yes, I am a bit of a perfectionist). However, this past week or so, I had quite a bit of leftover yarn my mom gave me, which had been used for making the foam model Christmas trees—you know the ones. It was yarn that I would not ever use for anything else, so I decided to try to make a small amigurumi octopus. It turned out perfectly, and then I just couldn’t stop! I made about four of them in one day.

Then I got to thinking. Yes, it’s adorable. But I miss those nice long tentacles that a lot of manufactured octopus toys have. So I made one with the tentacles. And then I decided, well, it’s quick and simple, why not write it down? So here it is! My quick and easy, no-sew octopus amigurumi!

I have made it with both worsted weight yarn and bulky blanket yarn, so feel free to get creative! You will also need polyfil or other stuffing and optional safety eyes.

You can also view my YouTube tutorial, or purchase a PDF version of the pattern from Ribblr or Ravelry.
