5 Indie Yarn Dyers to Check Out!

One of what I consider to be the best things I discovered when I got serious about crocheting is hand-dyed yarns. They are some of the most gorgeous yarns that exist, and I love the creativity and expression that yarn dyers show when they create their colorways. There are so many out there, and it definitely gets me in trouble looking at them, because then I buy them!

I wanted to share the incredible artwork of small batch, indie yarn dyers with you, so this blog post is dedicated to compiling a list of indie yarn dyers so you can have a go-to place to find beautiful yarn for your own personal stash!

  1. Lofty Loops Yarns

Allison, the dyer behind Lofty Loops Yarns, is an incredible yarn dyer. I personally have bought skeins from her, including the 2022 and 2023 advent calendars! (Check out the Snowfall and Lights Advent Wrap I designed with the 2022 calendar!) Probably the most amazing part is all the speckle work she does, which can be incredibly difficult to do correctly!

Lofty Loops Yarns can be found here!

2. Fangirl Fibers

Emily is the dyer behind Fangirl Fibers Yarn, and her yarns are all based on (you guessed it!) different fandoms! They range from Disney parks, to British television, to toys, and all are so incredible because of all the thought she puts behind them. Here yarns come either on a pre-order basis, or monthly clubs. I am getting her monthly Disney attraction club right now, and each one is so amazingly accurate to their attractions! She even offers cross-stitch kits for her clubs and pre-orders!

3. Paper Crane Yarn

Ashley is the dyer behind Paper Crane Yarn, located in Alabama. She has a physical storefront, as well as an online shop, and I love the balance between bright and vibrant yarns and the more subtle colorways she offers. She also sells project bags, which is always a plus!

You can find the Paper Crane Yarn shop here!l

4. Long Dog Yarn

Brandy, the dyer behind Long Dog Yarn, constantly creates vibrant, eye-catching colorways. I love the vibrancy she gets in the dyes, always bringing your eye back to them. You can grab some of her in stock yarns or pre-order some of her collections! Bonus: her stitch markers, stickers, and pins she also sells!

You can shop Long Dog Yarn here!

5. Castle View Yarns

Jen, dyer and creator of Castle View Yarns, creates bright colorways on her yarns. These eye catching colors are created in the United Kingdom, and you have the option of choosing in-stock yarns, monthly clubs, or collection pre-orders! Anything you make with these yarns are sure to draw attention!

You can shop Castle View Yarns here!

Have you purchased any of these yarns before? Have any recommendations? Let me know in the comments!

In the meantime, Happy Crocheting!
