Snowfall and Lights Advent Wrap

One of the my favorite parts of the Christmas season is the Advent calendars-- especially the chocolate ones! It's the perfect way to get excited about the entire holiday season, especially all the presents you get to open in a few short weeks. This year, I also did a 24-day yarn Advent calendar, and it hooked me good! I'm already looking forward to this year's!

For anyone who doesn't know, yarn Advent calendars are either 12-days or 24-days, and there are specifically labeled mini skeins for you to open each day. Some are fades, some are a specific color palette, some are themed, and some are just some specially designed colors for the calendar. Most of the yarn Advents out there are from indie yarn dyers. I got mine from Lofty Loops Yarns

Perhaps one of the most difficult parts of these yarn Advents is deciding what to make with them. Don't get me wrong, there are tons of patterns for 12- and 24-day Advents on Ravelry, but that doesn't make it any easier! I'd say it makes it harder! When I went searching for a crochet pattern for mine, I just couldn't find one that spoke to me or caught my attention enough to want to make it. So, like any over-achieving creative person, I decided to design my own pattern. So, say hello to the Snowfall and Lights Advent Wrap!

Snowfall and Lights Advent Wrap

By Savannah Wright

This is a rectangle wrap designed for a 24-day, DK weight, mini skein Advent calendar. That is not to say that if you have any excess DK weight yarn that you cannot make this work for those! In fact, I'd say you can even make this with fingering weight held double! It is also designed to not use all of a 40 gram DK mini in one section, which means there is plenty left over for a scrappy project!

Materials:

  • 24 Mini Skeins of DK weight yarn, and 1 full skein of a Main Color

  • 4.5 mm crochet hook

  • Scissors

Abbreviations

  • Ch: Chain

  • Sc: Single crochet

  • Dc: Double crochet

  • Hdc: Half double crochet

  • Yo: yarn over

  • Sk: skip

  • St: Stitch

  • Sp: Space

  • Sl st: Slip stitch

  • FO: Finish off

Below is the full pattern. If you don't want to bookmark the page, you can also find the pattern available for purchase in my Ravelry Store or my Ribblr Store!
